Thaana Serndha Kootam Review : Nothing Special about it

Special 26 - the Hindi movie that is the source of inspiration for Thaana Serndha Kootam was an enjoyable watch.  It was morally unapologetic and the criminals looked very beleaguered and tense especially the masterful Anupam Kher. Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpai and even the cameo by Jimmy Shergill and Divya Dutta were first rate. In fact that assembly looked  more spontaneous than Thaana Serndha Kootam ( A Crowd that gathered by itself).

The assembly here itself is a bit forced especially the characters played by Ramya Krishnan and Senthil. Although Ramya Krishnans screen presence is good, her character doesnt get the same empathy as the Anupam Kher one.

Vignesh Shivn the directors earlier movie ' Naanum Rowdy Than' was a good effort , it took itself less seriously.

Again TSK is very good when it takes itself lightly. Especially the subtle humour or the character played by Balaji. It makes heavy weather when it takes on the social issues of unemployment and corruption that forces the gang to take on the establishment.

Suriya  is very endearing without his gnarls that he was forced to do for the umpteen Singhams . Its nice to hear him say ' Police elam naraya panniyachu' ( Played the police role many times)

Karthik as the investigating inspector brings the movie down rather than taking it a level up with his somewhat confusingly comic yet trademark antics.

Heavy weather of what should have been a purely light hearted movie.
